What are Anxiety Disorders? The term "Anxiety Disorder" refers to a group of treatable medical conditions that manifest with excessive fear or worry, resulting in distress beyond what is appropriate for the situation. They include Specific Phobias, Social Anxiety Disorder, Panic Attack Disorder (or panic disorder), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and others.

What is Depression? Unipolar depression is another name for major depressive disorder. The term unipolar means that this form of depression does not cycle through other mental states, such as mania.
This is how unipolar depression differs from bipolar conditions, as in contrast, bipolar conditions cause periods of both depression and mania.
What is OCD? OCD is characterized by recurrent and persistent thoughts, urges, or images that are experienced, at some time during the disturbance, as intrusive, unwanted, and that in most individuals cause marked anxiety or distress. 2. The thoughts, impulses, or images are not simply excessive worries about real-life problems.
What is ADHD? Adult ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) can manifest as a persistent difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity that interferes with function or causes distress. Adult ADHD is typically treated by providers specializing in mental health.

What is Schizophrenia? Schizophrenia is a chronic brain disorder that affects less than one percent of the U.S. population. When schizophrenia is active, symptoms can include delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, trouble with thinking and lack of motivation. However, with treatment, most symptoms of schizophrenia will greatly improve and the likelihood of a recurrence can be diminished.
